Helle was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1956. She began playing tennis at age six and by age 18 she had won 36 National Championships, including the European Junior Championships.

Helle married and moved to Northern California in the early 70's and her Daughter Annika was born in 1981.

Now almost 28 years later Annika is the proud mother of two, Annika Graciela and Adrian Rudolfo. 

In 2008 Helle remarried and lives in Novato with her spouse Karin M. Lang.
